What is “bottoming out”?

This is a very rare complication. When implants are said to "bottom out" it means they descend too low on the chest, raising the nipples up too high. This is prevented by the surgical procedure being done properly and by the postoperative banding and replaced under your breast that you will wear for a number of days after the surgery. This is much less common when the implant is placed behind the muscle which supports the implant nicely. To correct this problem another surgery must be performed placing sutures to correct the position of the pocket to bring the implant up into the proper position.
